You likely won’t catch Cathy Seale sitting around. You might find her arguing in a boardroom, with a group of oil executives. Or you might find her volunteering for a Chamber of Commerce or Soroptimist event. Whatever she does, Cathy throws her whole self into the project.

The daughter of a Basque shepherd, Cathy knows hard work, determination and drive. She attributes her confidence to him, saying that he expected her to do bigger things. Coming from a culture and generation in which women were expected to behave a certain way, Cathy breaks all the molds.

“I learn by going headlong into things. I have always enjoyed a challenge, and it seems there’s always something coming up.” Indeed. Between running the Urroz Ranch, Yellow Creek Estates, Yellow Creek Mini-Storage, Seale Oilfield, Urroz Oil & Gas, and several rental properties, Cathy and her partner-in-crime, sister Mary Lindley stay pretty active.

Besides those business commitments, Cathy finds time to volunteer as a Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet Ambassador, a Soroptimist, and a board member of the Citizens of Uinta County Healthcare Trust. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The feisty woman also donates to many charities and causes around the area.

Cathy has a heart to serve those who have fallen between the cracks, especially those older people who are in need of help. “On a personal basis, I can’t be mean,” she shares. “I have no problem being tough with big oil companies, but I try to help with as many clubs and organizations as I can.”

Assistant Debbie Simon agrees, “People don’t realize how much Cathy donates to the community, not only of her personal resources, but also her time and energy. She wants to give back and help people who have fallen through the cracks.”

While Cathy knows her way around the oil field and is comfortable in the board room, she is a compassionate woman who looks for the best in those around her and tries to make life a little better for everyone she meets.
